Business Delegation from UBT visits Australia and New Zealand

Building on the long-established collaboration between UBT and The University of Auckland, Bayreuth alumna Dr Julia Fehrer - now working at the University of Auckland - facilitated a roundtable discussion between researchers for the two Business Schools. The delegation discussed research on international management and entrepreneurship and set up joint research projects.

Two Days - Five Universities: The Business School in Melbourne

Arriving in Melbourne, the Delegation from Bayreuth met with Business Schools from The University of Melbourne, Monash University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and Swinburne to establish common ground for future research and discussion. A big part in setting up these connections are former alumni from Bayreuth, who hold their alma mater in high esteem and play an integral role in setting productive international relations. Health Economics Workshop with Deakin University

An area of specialisation and research expertise at UBT and Deakin university was discussed during a productive workshop in early February 2020. Drawing on existing partnerships in the field of Health Economics between the two Universities, the workshop founds some concrete projects for collaboration. Represented by Prof. Eckhard Nagel and Dennis Henzler, UBT presented its research and the new campus in Kulmbach and its faculty ‘Food, Health and Nutrition’.

The workshop will no doubt lead to many fascinating comparative studies between the to countries, drawing on the research expertise of both research groups. Representing Deakin’s Health Economics group were Prof. Cathy Mihalopolous (Chair Deakin Health Economics), A/Prof Silva Zavarsek, Dr Julie Abimanyi-Ochom, Shalika Bohingamu Mudiyanselage, Martin Hensher, A/Prof Lisa Gold, Jaithri Ananthapavan, Dr Lidia Engel and Dr Victoria Brown.

Workshop ‘Sport, Health and Economics’

The connections between UBT and La Trobe University have been boosted during a visit of a delegation from Bayreuth to La Trobe in February 2020. Following a day of productive discussions on joint research in the fields of Sport, Health and Economics, the two universities finalised their joint PhD agreement. This agreement will allow students of both Universities to be supervised by experts from both institutions, gain valuable international experience and be awarded a joint testamur of their PhD. We are very much looking forward to accompanying the first cohort of Phd scholars on their journey.

Together with Geoff Dickson, Associate Professor, Sport Management, Management Sport & Tourism, two workshops were held with academics from UBT to explore areas for future collaboration.

Business, Economics and Finance Workshop

During the first workshop, a group of researchers from the fields of Sport Management, Health Economics and Sport Psychology continued conversations from both Universities discussed future joint research projects and possibilities for joint PhD supervisions. La Trobe University was represented by Associate Prof. Geoff Dickson, Prof. Matthew Nicholson, Prof. Emmanuel Kuntsche and Dr Martin Schlegel, UBT was represented by Prof. Eckhard Nagel and Dennis Henzler, as well as the international office represented by Dr Arnim Heinemann and Dr Irina Herrschner.

New Collaborations in Business and Entrepreneurship

A second workshop expanded on these collaborations, focusing on connections between the two Business Schools. The group from LTU (Prof. Geoff Dickson, A/Prof Ishaq Bhatti, Prof. Suzanne Young, Prof. Alex Maritz and Prof. Darren Henry) met with Prof. Ricarda Bouncken, Prof. Torsten Kühlmann, Prof. Klaus Schäfer, Roman Barwinski, Dr Arnim Heinemann and Dr Irina Herrschner and found some specific areas of common scholarly interest that will be explored throughout 2020.
